Plans for a

Better

Liberia

FOR THE YOUTH

Assures that the government will empower the youth by investing heavily in a comprehensive youth program that includes compulsory, high-quality free primary and secondary education, as well as youth sports and athletics programs in schools and communities to promote entertainment, incite competition, improve physical fitness and prevent crime.

Access to education is a right not a privilege. Education is a constitutional right and it is time we fought illiteracy and not the illiterate.

FOR SPORTS AND CULTURE

Liberian youth will have a better chance of qualifying for the African Cup, World Cup, Olympic Games, and other international sports and athletic contests than they have now.

His youth empowerment program will include drug-affected youth rehabilitation and skill-training programs.

FIGHTS AGAINST CORRUPTION

He has created a 10-point “A Better Liberia Agenda” and a 12-point “Strategy to Fight Corruption in Liberia,” which he claims would drive the country’s overhaul and renewal.

As a result, the Gongloe administration will issue an Executive Order prohibiting government personnel from disrespecting, interfering with, influencing, or hindering law enforcement officers. Violators would face harsh reprimands, including removal, following summary investigations. If said public officials get in the way of judicial officers like bailiffs, magistrates, marshals, the Chief Justice, and so on, similar steps will be taken. The distinguished lawyer promises the public that the law will not be applied selectively since justice is essential for long-term peace, progress, and prosperity for all Liberians.

FOR ENTREPRENEURS

The merchants are also concerned about his plans to strictly enforce provisions of the Decent Work Act, which prohibits issuing work permits to foreigners for jobs that Liberians can do, and to charge the Ministry of Labor with developing a database of Liberian professionals in order to match them to jobs, making them key drivers of the economy.

His administration would dedicate a government financing to support Liberian music and the performing arts, such as cultural entertainment, comedy, and other creative activities, in order to not only strengthen the country’s economy but also to develop its enviable intellectual prowess or talent. To this purpose, the government plans to construct theaters, cultural institutes, and museums in order to conserve Liberian culture and increase tourism. Even initiatives to showcase Liberia’s distinctive foods and costumes would attract State bursaries to develop and thrive.
